His Excellency Jörn Rohde – Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Ms Frau Sonia Lapointe, Mr Daniel Schreiber – Portfolio Manager GIZ, Sri Lanka, and Ms Anushika Siva – Senior Advisor for Trade and Development, German Embassy, visited the Sri Lanka-German Training Institute in June 2017. After receiving the traditional Tamil Welcome Ceremony, the Ambassador met Erwin Schulz, Principal of SLGTI and other SLGTI officials. They discussed how to bring in stronger focus on needs of competitive job market and private sector involvement in the training. According to SLGTI’s vision statement “to be an internationally recognized technical training institute”, the Ambassador Jörn Rohde and his delegation joined a guided tour to SLGTI classes and workshops. His Excellency took a lot of extra time to speak with students and lecturers/instructors.

SLGTI’s annual intake of 400 students receive training at NVQ levels 4 to 6 in keeping with the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) framework. The technical training institute is producing qualified graduates who can easily find job opportunities in any part of Sri Lanka.

  1. It’s very much appreciable SLGTI as it’s a need of the day in the country. Best wishes to achieve the vision of the institute.
